Welcome to SCIS Counseling


The SCIS mission is "to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring learners who contribute positively to their communities.” 


The mission of the Upper School Counseling Team is to support and advocate for the individual potential of our students through an integrated partnership of home, school, and community.


Belief Statements

  • Students are our primary focus
  • All students can learn when given the appropriate support and resources
  • In a holistic approach to learning, which encompasses social, emotional, behavioral and cognitive development
  • In taking a proactive approach to identify and address student needs
  • In fostering student growth to promote self-awareness, self-advocacy and effective communication skills
  • That our programs and approach must be sensitive and mindful of family belief systems and cultural backgrounds
  • Counselors play an integral role in facilitating collaboration between all stakeholders.


SCIS offers students from grades 9-12 a comprehensive counseling program that addresses the academic, career and personal needs of students. We strive to build on student strengths and individual talent within our diverse community.

Program highlights include:


·      Five year academic planning and course registration

·      Student support for learning

·      Career exploration and preparation

·      College guidance and university visits

·      Transition programs for all students new to our campus

·      Advisory programs geared toward student success

·      Testing services (SAT, ACT, AP)
