Learning at SCIS: There are three components to student learning: Curriculum (the What), Instruction (the How), and Assessment (the Whether). The written curriculum is what we guarantee to parents that we are teaching their children. How we deliver the written curriculum is determined by our instructional practices. And the pupose of assessment is to determine whether or not students actually learned what we said we were teaching them.
The core of the written curriculum is the set of learning standards that we teach. Standards are broken down into benchmarks at each grade level.
